Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch (born 2 July 1983) also known as Michelle Branch is an American actress, songwriter, and singer. She released two top-selling albums namely ‘The Spirit Room’ and ‘Hotel Paper’ in the early 2000s. She has won multiple awards for her albums and she is also a Grammy Award winner.

Early life and background
Michelle Branch was born in Sedona, Arizona, U.S. Her father is David Branch and he is of Irish descent. Her mother is Peggy Branch and she is of Dutch-Indonesian and French descent. She has two siblings including an older half-brother named David and a younger sister named Nicole. Michelle started singing at an early age.
She got herself enrolled in voice lessons at Northern Arizona University when she was eight years old. She was interested in playing musical instruments so her parents gifted her guitar for her 14th birthday. She came up with her first song “Fallen” within a week of receiving her guitar. She did her schooling from Sedona Red Rock High School but decided to finish the last two years of her high school education through home schooling. She wanted to focus on her music career more.
Personal Life
Michelle got married to the bass player Teddy Landau on 23rd May 2004 in Mexico. She got blessed with a daughter on 3rd August 2005 and named her Owen. She later separated from Teddy in 2014 and got divorced in November 2015. She met Patrick Carney in the same year at a Grammy party. They dated for three years and moved into Carney’s house with Owen. The couple announced that were expecting their first child in February 2018. Michelle finally gave birth to her son on 28th August 2018 and named him Rhys James Carney. They are currently living in Nashville with their children and two Irish wolfhounds named Charlotte and Darla. Branch and Carney finally got married on April 20, 2019.

Career
Michelle started her career in the year 1983 when her parents helped her book local gigs in Sedona. Her parents also financed her independent album Broken Bracelet. In June 2000, Michelle self-produced Broken Bracelet on June 2000. Later she released the album called The Spirit Room in August 2001, producing the hit single “Everywhere”. Branch teamed up with Santana in 2002 to produce the song titled ‘Game of Love’, this song earned her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
Michelle released her second major album in 2003 and its called Hotel Paper. This album was debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. She started collaborating with her friend named Jessica Harp. They were together known as The Wreckers and the duo came up with multiple songs before splitting in 2007. Entertainment Weekly announced Michelle’s new album, Hopeless Romantic in December 2016. It was released on April 7, 2017. Michelle performed a cover of the song with Patrick Carney called for the season 4 episode of BoJack Horseman.
